It’s been a long week but it’s over and it’s time to unwind. I do like a drinkie and for me it’s not so much quantity as variety that gets me going.
Who’s up for cocktails?
Our household is very much a fan of gin so here’s a couple of our favorites that you might not have come across. I like to think that the cocktails you drink send out a message, the first says to me that life is bittersweet and better experienced once you accept that simple fact. The second cocktail says I am an enormous ponce.
A variation on the apparently now trending Negroni, the dryness of gin and the bitter notes of Campari offset by a touch of sweetness from the triple sec and garnished with a twist of orange peel. It also happens to look gorgeous.
Shake on ice and serve in a Martini glass, don’t forget the orange peel.
Some drinks take a bit off effort to prepare , in this case it’s tracking down ingredients that needs a certain determination. Creme de Violette isn’t exactly an Aldi staple, it’s also revolting and the surprisingly floral Maraschino liqueur isn’t much better on the obscurity and old ladies hand soap front; but used with a little restraint they make amazing cocktails.
Shake on ice and serve in Martini glass. Garnish with either a cherry or a twist of flamed lemon peel.
Well that’s me sorted, if I were any more laid back, I’d fall over.
The cheese making will happen, it’s carrying home a gallon of milk that I’m putting off.
