It’s that time of year when we have a bit too much chocolate around. I don’t know why people give it to us, we’re both staunch atheists and never reciprocate but why say no to some free stuff?
I’m in a scone sort of mood and it’s a been a while since I went all the way with a scone or two so I figure why not do some clotted cream as well?
If you want to play along you’ll need to get the cream done ahead of time, making clotted cream is easy but slow. I have a carton of double cream that’s just gone out of date. I’ve poured it into a jar ( other containers are available ) and shoved in the slow cooker ( surrounded by water ) on high all day. After that it sits in the fridge overnight for food chemistry to work its magic.
The scones are also easy – for two scones use about 130g flour, a splodge of baking powder, about 20g butter and 20g sugar all rubbed together. Hammer your chocolate bunny to death and put its shattered body into the bowl along with a handful of raisins. A splash of milk to bind it all together then shape and bake in preheated ( 200oC ) oven for twenty minutes.
